We set out from Leh in good form looking forward to one of the most infamous high altitude roads in the world. Unfortunately two days into the ride Alice’s back seized up at 4600m and we were forced to find another way…

One of the best bits about riding in this part of the world are their truly unique road signs. Here’s a few of our favourites..

Riding from Srinigar in Muslim Kashmir To Leh in Buddhist Ladakh was an awesome experience. We followed a (mostly) amazingly smooth, paved, high altitude road between two very distinct and beautiful cultures & some awesomely rugged landscape. Obviously, the region has it’s troubles and there was a very strong military presence in Kashmir (of which we thought it wise not to take photos…) but the people here were nothing but kind towards us. Cycle touring don’t get much better than this… 

After a bit of time off the bike this road put us back in the groove!

After flying from Kazakstan to Srinigar, Kashmir, we took the opportunity to celebrate our one year anniversary (and Pete’s birthday) by floating about on the beautiful Dal lake for a few days…
