Moving from Muslim Kashmir to Buddist Ladakh was a real eye-opener.
Manjor gave us a place to sleep and showed us around his village. Top bloke!

These road working teams are all over the Himalayas, working stupidly hard in extreme conditions. Makes our lives seem too easy.

Long mountain roads… again
Riding from Srinigar in Muslim Kashmir To Leh in Buddhist Ladakh was an awesome experience. We followed a (mostly) amazingly smooth, paved, high altitude road between two very distinct and beautiful cultures & some awesomely rugged landscape. Obviously, the region has it’s troubles and there was a very strong military presence in Kashmir (of which we thought it wise not to take photos…) but the people here were nothing but kind towards us. Cycle touring don’t get much better than this…Â
After a bit of time off the bike this road put us back in the groove!
